Bin ich verliebt oder kommt das Herzrasen vielleicht doch vom vielen Speed?
RIOTS IN ECUADOR.
Lenín Moreno announced a package of economic measures as part of a deal with the International Monetary Fund to obtain millions in credit. These measures became known as “el paquetazo” and they included the end of fuel subsidies, and cuts in public worker benefits and wages. They sold us to the IMF. They forgave debts and taxes to large companies, and they will not confiscate property from corrupt politicians. Ecuador allocates USD 2,700 daily for annuities of former presidents.
If the price of gasoline goes up, the price of everything necessary for daily living goes up. We do not have good working conditions or decent wages. And yet they want to make us pay.
The whole country went out to protest even though there are infiltrators creating chaos and stealing, looting.
- More than 7 dead, 2 of them were children
- 95 seriously injured
- More than 500 minor injuries
- 83 missing, of which 47 minors
- More than 800 detainees
- 57 journalists attacked by police
- 13 jailed journalists
- 9 media intervened
- 26 politicians arrested
13/10/2019 UPDATE: There has been a dialogue today between indigenous and social leaders with the president. Decree 883 which affirms the elimination of the gasoline subsidy, one of the causes of the protests, has been revoked. But all other problems remain intact. We invite people to be witnesses. We still don’t know what will happen.
